Oil tanker sinks off Oman coast

Shipping data from LSEG showed the tanker was heading to Yemen's Aden port and capsized near Duqm, Oman's main industrial port. Shipping data shows the ship is a 117-meter-long oil product tanker built in 2007. Such small tankers are usually used for short coastal trips.

According to the Oman News Agency, Omani authorities, along with maritime officials, have launched search and rescue operations at the scene. The Duqm port is located on Oman's southwestern coast, close to major oil and gas mining projects. These include a major oil refinery that is part of Duqm's larger industrial zone. It is Oman's largest single economic project.
