According to a report, three officials of the All India Chess Federation said that the event takes place once in two years and the Indian team won the trophy in the last Chess Olympiad held in Chennai in 2022. The world governing body of chess had sent an email to the All India Chess Federation requesting to return the trophy to India. Because this cup will be awarded to the winners of the ongoing Chess Olympiad in Budapest after the end of Round 11.
