Korba, 07 June (HS). The district administration has taken a big initiative and resolved to provide residential facilities to helpless and destitute elderly people in the district through old age home from the mineral trust fund. In this direction, the Municipal Corporation Korba area has renovated the ashram located near the Sarvamangala temple in ward number 54 and has given administrative approval of one crore one lakh 22 thousand rupees. 60 male and female elderly people will get residential facility in this ashram which will be run under a special program for the welfare of the elderly and disabled people. With its construction, this will be the first fully equipped old age home run by the district administration in Korba district.

There was a long standing lack of a systematic and well-equipped old age home for helpless senior citizens in Korba district. Taking initiative in this direction, the district administration decided to build an old age home under the District Mineral Trust fund. Taking cognizance of the arrangements, shortcomings and problems of the old age home operating near the Sarvamangala temple, they have decided to improve the old ashram building for the welfare of helpless elderly people. By issuing administrative approval of more than one crore rupees, the collector has given priority to the works of compound, new toilets, electrification to renovate the dilapidated old ashram building. With the construction of a well-equipped old age home, the elderly living here will not have to face any kind of problems. On the other hand, if there are rooms etc. in the building on the basis of the number of 60, then the helpless elderly people wandering here and there will be able to get residential facilities.
