Officials should ensure all possible help to the people affected by rain, there should be no negligence in relief work: Deputy Chief Minister


Taking cognizance of the news of damage being caused during the rainy season in various districts of Uttar Pradesh, Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya has instructed the officials of the Rural Development Department to take special vigilance. He said that the officers should constantly keep an eye on any situation arising due to rain in the rural areas of the state and give top priority to the safety and assistance of the general public. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Maurya ji directed the officers that the officers posted at block and village level should keep a 24-hour vigil in their respective areas. If information is received about waterlogging, damage to roads or link roads, collapse of houses, any other kind of damage in rural areas or life being affected due to rain, immediate cognizance should be taken.

Instructions for continuous monitoring in rural areas
Shri Maurya ji said that in view of the current rainy season, the officers of the Rural Development Department should take special caution in their areas. Officers and employees up to the Gram Panchayat level should keep a constant eye on the local conditions. Information about the impact of rain on waterlogging, kutcha houses, rural roads, drains, bridges and other public facilities in rural areas should be obtained from time to time. He said that officers should not just wait for information, but should actively tour their area and take stock of the situation. Wherever people are facing difficulties due to rain, necessary action should be taken immediately by coordinating with the concerned departments.

Officers should help the victims in every possible way
The Deputy Chief Minister directed that all possible help should be provided to the families affected by the rains. If any family’s residence or other property is damaged, the concerned officers should reach the spot and take stock of the situation and necessary action should be taken to provide relief as per rules. He said that no citizen should feel alone due to disaster or natural circumstances. It is the responsibility of the administration and departmental officers to ensure that timely assistance reaches the affected people in case of crisis. If necessary, relief and rescue operations should be expedited by coordinating with local administration, revenue, police, health and other concerned departments.

There should be no delay in giving information
Shri Maurya ji gave clear instructions to the officials that information about any incident should not be hidden or kept pending. As soon as information about the incident is received, higher officials should be immediately informed, so that necessary decisions can be taken according to the seriousness of the situation. He said that timely information and prompt action is of utmost importance to reduce damage caused by rain. Therefore, block and village level officials should take every information received at the local level seriously and ensure immediate necessary action. He said that information about any untoward incident or loss should be made available to higher officials without delay, so that necessary relief and rescue operations can be started on time.
