Raipur, 2 August (HS). Housing and Environment Minister O.P. Choudhary held a review meeting of all the regional officers of the state at the office of Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board located at Atal Nagar Nava Raipur on Friday. He asked the officers to contribute self-motivatedly in the works related to environmental conservation. For transparency and promptness in work, he instructed to install biometric attendance, CCTV cameras and prepare a dashboard in the state and district level offices so that the resolution of cases can be reviewed by the officers through the dashboard.
Shri Chaudhary directed that the industries should strictly follow the rules for transportation and disposal of fly ash. He also instructed to use GPS system and geo tagging in the vehicles used for transporting fly ash so that fly ash is not thrown here and there.
Shri Chaudhary directed the regional officers to ensure full compliance of the condition of tree plantation included in the conditions of environmental clearance granted to the industries and the industries should not limit themselves to only tree plantation but a system of inspection should also be prepared for the promotion of the planted saplings. It is the responsibility of all the regional officers to get dense tree plantation done in their respective areas and these trees should include Peepal, Neem etc. Shri Chaudhary, while emphasizing on vehicle pollution control, directed that all the regional officers should strengthen the vehicle pollution measurement pollution testing system and organize meetings of vehicle pollution measurement centers from time to time.
In a discussion with the officials, Shri Chaudhary said that they should also think about how the steps taken for environmental protection can be made more effective and how the upcoming challenges can be dealt with. He reviewed the work being done under the Water and Air Pollution Prevention and Control Act.
Shri Chaudhary said that a meeting of all the stakeholders will be held soon and the help of intellectuals will be taken in pollution control improvement works. Shri Chaudhary reviewed the post structure of the division and directed to re-determine the post structure in the headquarters and regional offices. He directed to upload the data of all the employees in the HRMS system within a month and take online action.
Board Chairperson and Secretary, Housing and Environment Department Ms. R. Sangeetha and Board Member Secretary P. Arun Prasad were also present in the meeting.
