The council said that now any educational institution providing hostel facility outside the campus will not have to pay GST. However, the condition will be that the upper limit of per capita fee is Rs. 20 thousand and the student has to stay in the hostel for 90 consecutive days. Giving information about this decision, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that students who do not live in educational institutions, that is, students who do not live in educational institutions, are also being given this concession. If they are inside educational institutions, then they already have exemption. She said that this exemption is for students as well as working class people.
Notice issued to taxpayers paying less than 2% GST: Sitharaman
