Electricity Bill Rules: Consumers will no longer get wrong electricity bills. Electricity bill will be generated according to the reading in the meter. For this, the department has made arrangements for OCR billing along with investigation. Electricity bill will be generated only after scanning the meter under OCR. Where OCR will not work, electricity bill will be generated through verification. Besides, a contractual employee of the department will also be present along with the reader, who will check whether the electricity bill being generated is correct or not.
Most of the consumers complain that the reader is making their electricity bills wrong. Too much is being shown to the reader. Readers are making electricity bills while sitting at home. Many such complaints reach the authorities every day. To ensure that consumers get correct electricity bills on time, the department had started Check Billing Scheme a few months ago.
Department implemented OCR billing system
It is a lead, one end of which is connected to the meter and the other end to the mobile. After this, the readings recorded in the meter are included in it and the electricity bill is extracted from the machine and given to the consumers. But in most of the meters the electricity bill was not being generated through investigation and the problem of the consumers was not being completely resolved. In this regard, the department has implemented the system of OCR billing.
In OCR billing, arbitrary readings will not be recorded by the meter reader in the process of making the bill by taking a photo of the consumer’s meter. The readings and demand coming in the meter will be scanned through the billing app. After this the consumer’s bill will be automatically generated.

The new OCR Billing App has been downloaded by all readers. Readers have been trained on the process of the new billing app. There will be a huge improvement in billing under this process. Readers will no longer be able to make bills sitting at home. Bills will be generated only after reaching the site and scanning the meter. This will also curb store reading billing.
