The Odisha government has introduced a one-day menstrual leave policy for the first time in the state for women employees working in both state government and private companies. During the district-level Independence Day celebrations in Cuttack, Odisha's new Chief Minister Pravati Parida said women employees will be allowed to take leave on the first or second day of their menstruation. The one-day menstrual leave policy will come into effect with immediate effect.

What has been India's stance on period leave ,

There has been a debate on period leave in India for years. Women say that they should get leave during periods. However, sometimes some women also oppose it. But now the Supreme Court has directed the central government to make a model policy on period leave.
