Recently, the shooting of Punjabi TV serial Udaariyaan was going on in Mohali. A fake Gurudwara Sahib set was built in it. As soon as the Nihangs came to know about this, they created a ruckus and stopped the shooting. After this, the police came there and pacified the matter.
Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh of Sri Akal Takht Sahib has condemned the incident of celebrations in fake Gurudwara Sahib during the shooting of a serial in Gharun, Mohali. He said that people in the film industry are playing with Sikh traditions by giving priority to their business. If they do not stop these activities, Sri Akal Takht Sahib will have to take strict action against them.
Any Sikh actor or director or supporter found guilty or abettor in this incident will be dealt with strictly by Sri Akal Takht Sahib as per Sikh traditions. Soon, a strict decision will be taken in the meeting of Panj Singh Sahibs to ban the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in future films.
In a statement issued by the Sri Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat, Giani Raghbir Singh said that the Sikh panth has long ago banned the filming of mock marriages in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji or Gurdwara Sahibs. Drama and sham marriages will never be tolerated in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
The Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib said that for some time now, there have been complaints that fake marriages are being performed in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib Ji in films and TV, which deeply hurts the heart of every devout Sikh.
He said that a fake Gurudwara Sahib was erected for the shooting of Anand Karja, which is against Sikh traditions. Apart from the fake Gurudwara Sahib set of Gharun, there have also been complaints of actors smoking, which is completely intolerable.
The Jathedar of Akal Takht said that he will soon seek a report from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee about the entire incident of setting up a fake Gurdwara Sahib in Gharoon and shooting Anand Karja. He will order the Shiromani Gurdwara Committee to take legal action against it.
