The first board meeting of House of Himalaya was held at the Secretariat on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Radha Raturi. The Chief Secretary agreed to this after detailed discussion on the agenda of the meeting. During this, it was informed that plans are being made to soon open the stores of House of Himalaya, which is emerging as the largest umbrella brand for processing/packaging/branding of local products, in Connaught Place and other prime locations of New Delhi. The Chief Secretary has given instructions to ensure purchase of maximum local products from women self-help groups and local people to ensure adequate supply as per the demand under House of Himalaya.
Chief Secretary Radha Raturi said that through projects/initiatives of various departments of Uttarakhand, all their brands are to be brought under the umbrella brand. House of Himalaya will prove to be a global platform in increasing the reach, quality, standardized packaging, branding and marketing of local products.
He said that purchasing local products through women self-help groups will start a new chapter of women empowerment in the state. Formation of the company as House of Himalaya at the state level will enhance the livelihood of local stakeholders, self-help groups, farmers and local producers and help them get better prices for their crops and products.
Secretary Radhika Jha, Additional Secretary Manuj Goyal, Nikita Khandelwal and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
