The Women's T20 World Cup has been moved from Bangladesh due to political instability in Bangladesh. The International Cricket Council announced this on Tuesday, although the host team is still with Bangladesh. The matches of this tournament, which is going to start from October 3, will be played at Dubai International and Sharjah grounds in UAE. ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice said that it is a shame that Bangladesh did not host the Women's T20 World Cup, because we know that the Bangladesh Cricket Board could have organized a memorable event. Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe Cricket Boards had also expressed interest in hosting the tournament, but the council decided to hold the competition in the United Arab Emirates.
The UAE has previously hosted the T20 World Cup. Due to Corona, the men's T20 World Cup to be held in India in 2021 was held in the UAE, although it was hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The ICC had proposed to the BCCI to host the tournament, but the Indian board rejected the ICC's proposal, saying that it did not want to indicate that it wanted to host the World Cup at home continuously. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had told that India is going to host the Women's World Cup next year in 2025.
Let us tell you that the Women's T20 World Cup is to be played in Bangladesh from 3 to 20 October. 10 teams will participate in this World Cup. 23 matches will be played in 18 days. At the same time, Group B has host Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies and qualifier-2 teams.
All the matches of this group will be played in Dhaka.
