IPL 2024 is over. The final match of the tournament was played on Sunday 26 May between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, KKR waved the flag of victory and won the trophy. Now after the IPL is over, the T20 World Cup will start, for which almost all the players of Team India have reached New York, USA. Only 2-3 players are yet to reach America.
The Indian team is in Group A with Pakistan
The T20 World Cup will be hosted by the USA and West Indies, which will begin on June 1. However, due to the time difference, the tournament will begin in India on June 2. The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team is in Group A of the tournament, which includes USA, Canada, Pakistan and Ireland apart from India. Team India will play all the matches of the group stage in the USA.
India will face Ireland in the first match
Team India will play its first match of the T20 World Cup against Ireland on Wednesday, June 5. After this, Team India's second match will be against Pakistan on Sunday, June 9. Both these matches will be played at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 15-member Indian team for the T20 World Cup on 30 April. Rohit Sharma was made the captain of the team and Hardik Pandya was made the vice-captain. Apart from the 15-member team, 4 reserve players were also announced.
