Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: Sharad Pawar's NCP party, which had joined hands with Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) in Maharashtra in the Lok Sabha elections, has shown its mood before the assembly elections. Pawar has clearly told both the parties involved in the alliance that we will contest on fewer seats in the Lok Sabha elections, but our party will not make any compromise in the assembly. Sharad Pawar made this clear after a meeting with MLAs and MPs after a meeting with party officials of Pune city and district on Friday.
NCP hints that situation will be different in Assembly
NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) Pune president Prashant Jagtap also attended the meeting. Jagtap said that in the meeting, Pawar told party leaders and workers that NCP contested fewer seats in the Lok Sabha elections so that the alliance with Shiv Sena and Congress can be maintained. We have been indicated that the situation will be different in the assembly elections. Sharad Pawar has reviewed Pune, Baramati, Maval and Shirur Lok Sabha constituencies. Another party leader said that Pawar has asked MPs and MLAs to be ready for the assembly elections. NCP state president Jayant Patil told reporters that the party has not yet decided the seat sharing and how many seats to contest.
The BJP has 103 MLAs, the Ajit Pawar-led NCP has 40 MLAs, Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena has 38 MLAs. The Congress has 37 MLAs, the Shiv Sena (UBT) has 15 MLAs and Sharad Pawar has 10 MLAs.
