Indian Railway: For the convenience of its passengers, Indian Railways keeps operating some trains from time to time or provides some other kind of facilities. There are often some changes in the rules of Railways. Another rule has changed from 1st November i.e. today which is related to advance ticket booking. Railways had announced this rule a few days ago which has come into effect from today.
Under this new rule coming into effect from today, advance tickets can now be booked only 60 days in advance. Earlier the advance was 120 days, which has been reduced by the Railways. Let us tell you what effect this rule will have. We also tell you why the ticket booking time has been changed.
New rule of Indian Railways
Indian Railways has abolished the facility of advance ticket booking 120 days in advance and reduced this period to 60 days. According to Railways, many tickets get canceled during the advance ticket period and 4 to 5 percent people do not travel at all. Some passengers book tickets 4 months in advance and do not travel, due to which other needy passengers are not able to get tickets. This is the reason why this period has been reduced to 60 days.
This will be beneficial
Under this rule changed by Railways in the process of advance ticket booking, efforts are being made to stop black marketing of tickets. Many times, when passengers do not travel after booking tickets, the possibility of fraud increases, which can be reduced to some extent after the implementation of the new rule. However, some people are also complaining about this new rule because they are not able to get reservation on the occasion of festival and a lot of crowd is being seen at the station.
What will happen to already booked tickets?
This rule implemented by Railways is not going to be applicable on already booked tickets. This rule is going to be implemented from today i.e. 1st November, so those who have booked advance tickets till 31st October, can travel comfortably. From today, those who want to book advance tickets will have to follow this rule of 60 days.
