Hamirpur, 23 November (HS). The department has now made preparations to make no entry of heavy vehicles on Yamuna and Betwa bridges between Kanpur-Sagar National Highway. An ultimatum has also been given for this. Along with this, a company from Hyderabad has also camped with the team to check the load capacity of the highway. Besides, ten-member teams have been deployed to repair the cracks in the slabs and abutments of the bridges.
The bridges of Yamuna and Betwa rivers on the Kanpur-Sagar National Highway in Hamirpur district are several decades old, which have currently become weak due to the movement of heavy vehicles beyond their capacity. Both small and heavy vehicles enter these bridges day and night. At least ten thousand vehicles pass through the bridges of both the rivers in 24 hours, which creates traffic jams on the bridges and highways every day. Both these bridges have been damaged many times due to the movement of overloaded vehicles. A few decades ago, a lintel above a bridge on the Yamuna bridge had cracked. Due to which the movement of heavy vehicles was stopped due to the formation of a big hole. Due to the dilapidation of the bridge, no entry of roadways buses and other vehicles was imposed for a month. PNC Company had completely stopped vehicular traffic while repairing the bridge. Due to which the people of Kanpur and Lucknow were cut off for several days. Both these bridges have been damaged four times due to entry of vehicles many times their capacity.
Hyderabad agency now starts investigation into the load carrying capacity of the National Highway road.
ARTO Enforcement Amitabh Rai said that a survey is being conducted to check the load capacity of the road of Kanpur-Sagar National Highway. Told that the Hyderabad company along with its team has also started checking the load capacity of the road from Kanpur to Khanna in Mahoba district. The company’s employees are checking the road every 500 meters with the machine. Employees are also feeding data into laptops. After investigation, the report will be given within fifteen days.
NHAI also now warns against heavy vehicles passing on highway bridges
Now NHAI has prepared to ban the entry of heavy vehicles on the bridges built on Yamuna and Betwa rivers in Hamirpur of Kanpur-Sagar National Highway. An ultimatum has also been given for this. Along with this, the National Highway road from Kanpur to Khanna is being inspected with machines. Let us tell you that both these bridges of about thirty-five MT capacity were built several decades ago, but at present vehicles of many times more capacity are passing through the bridges.

There is advice to ban heavy vehicles from passing through Yamuna and Betwa bridges. Due to heavy vehicles, slight cracks have appeared in the bridge slabs and sheds. PNC Supervisor Mohd. Ashraf said that an agency from Hyderabad has checked the cells here with a machine. When minor cracks appear in the slabs and chambers, they are now being repaired. Told that a ten-member team has been deployed to fill the cracks in the sheds and bridge slabs.
