Indian Navy has implemented a new dress code for the Officers' Mess. Now Navy soldiers and officers will be seen in kurta pajama in the wardroom. The Government of India had talked about Indianizing the military traditions and customs and this step has come under the same. Earlier there was a ban on wearing kurta-pajama in the Air Force and Navy, but now this special dress code will be valid in all the officers' messes of the Navy.

This change promotes Indian culture. The main objective of this initiative is to create a positive and Indian-filled environment within the Navy. This will strengthen the feeling of pride in one's culture and will also reveal a new and modern image.

Talking about dress code, it includes kurta, pajama and sleeveless jacket. The kurta will be knee length and the pajama can be of matching or different colour. It will have elastic waist and side pockets. A stylish jacket will also be worn over it which will be sleeveless. This will give the Navy a different look which also reflects their heritage.
