Angered by not getting ticket in the Madhepura by-election, Shantanu has announced to contest the elections as an independent candidate, but the matter did not stop here. - “Tejashwi Betrayed”: Shantanu alleges that Tejashwi had promised to send him to the Legislative Council (MLC) and make him a minister, but never fulfilled those promises.
- Insulting father’s inheritance: He said that Madhepura has been his father’s workplace and the people there are his family. RJD has insulted his father’s legacy by giving ticket to someone else from here.
Biggest attack on RJD’s power center
The biggest and direct attack that Shantanu has made is on the power center of RJD. He clearly said, “Lalu Prasad ji’s RJD no longer works. This is just an illusion that is being shown. All decisions in the party are now taken by Tejashwi Yadav.”
This is a huge statement because RJD’s politics has always revolved around Lalu Prasad Yadav. Shantanu’s statement that Lalu ji is now only in name, points towards the ongoing tussle and changing equations within the party.
What will be the effect of this rebellion?
Political experts believe that this rebellion of Shantanu can create a lot of trouble for Tejashwi in Madhepura. Madhepura is considered to be the stronghold of Yadav voters and Sharad Yadav has a deep hold here.
With Shantanu contesting as an independent, RJD’s main vote bank i.e. Yadav vote will be directly divided. On one side there will be RJD candidate, and on the other side sympathy votes will be cast in the name of Sharad Yadav’s son. NDA candidate can get direct benefit from this fight.
