A company called American Rounds is installing these vending machines in grocery stores. According to this company, these machines are fitted with an identification scanner and facial recognition software. This will allow pills to be purchased easily by verifying the age of the buyer.
American Rounds is claiming that selling pills is safe with the help of age verification technology. The company says that buying pills this way is much safer than online shopping. In which proof of physical age is given. Only customers above the age of 21 can easily buy pills from the vending machine. These vending machines are equipped with inbuilt AI technology, card scanning capabilities and facial recognition software.
“Eight such machines have been installed in four states. We have received more than 200 store requests for AARM (Automated Ammo Retail Machine) from about nine states. This number is constantly growing,” said Grant Magers, CEO of American Rounds.
The Americans are protesting
There is also opposition to this vending machine installed in many American grocery stores. Because, incidents of mass shooting are happening continuously in America. So far 15 incidents of mass shooting have taken place in 2024. So Americans say that if bullets are openly available in grocery stores like this, then incidents of mass shooting will increase.
