Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has prepared to take cow conservation and cow service to a new and modern dimension. Now direct participation of the new generation i.e. Gen-Z and youth will be ensured in this sacred work of cow conservation. For this, the state government is going to run a comprehensive awareness and training campaign in every village, under which about 10,000 ‘Go Mitras’ will be prepared. The main objective of the government is to develop a self-reliant model by not limiting cow conservation to religious belief only but linking it with rural economy, natural farming, green energy and employment opportunities.
Government will connect youth, 10,000 ‘Go Mitra’ will be ready
According to Shyam Bihari Gupta, Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Cow Service Commission, the biggest focus of this new campaign is to make children and youth aware about cow protection. By running a special campaign in the villages, the youth will be told in detail about the importance of indigenous cows, cow service, natural farming and the utility of cows in rural economy. To implement this scheme, first of all master trainers will be trained, who will later train other people in the villages. In this way, a strong network of trained people and ‘Go Mitras’ will be created in every village. In this entire process, priority will be given to people already associated with cow service and conservation.
More than 12 lakh cows are growing in more than 7,500 cow shelters.
Yogi government is continuously taking big and tough steps for the protection of destitute cattle in the state. At present, more than 7,500 cow shelters have been developed across Uttar Pradesh, in which more than 12 lakh cows are protected with complete security. On one hand, this step of the government is protecting the farmers’ crops from damage caused by stray animals, while on the other hand it is giving a safe life to the cattle. For better maintenance and fodder of cattle, the government has increased the assistance amount from Rs 30 to Rs 50 per cow per day. Also, most of the Gaushalas have been kept under the surveillance of CCTV cameras to maintain transparency.
Lakhs of cattle farmers associated with Chief Minister Partnership Scheme
To increase the participation of common citizens and animal farmers, ‘Mukhyamantri Sahitya Yojana’ and Nutrition Mission have been effectively implemented. Under this, till now about 1.85 lakh cattle have been handed over to about 1.15 lakh cattle farmers of the state. Due to this, while on one hand the cattle are getting the best protection at family and personal level, on the other hand the livelihood of the cattle herders is also getting strengthened. It is noteworthy that Uttar Pradesh, along with being the state with the largest livestock population in the country, also ranks top in milk production in the country. The government is now using this strong base to further increase rural income.
Gaushalas in every district will be evaluated and developed
To link cow conservation with local employment and self-employment, Uttar Pradesh Cow Seva Aayog has decided to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the capacity of all the cow shelters in the state. Under this, cow-based economic activities will be promoted based on the local conditions, geographical location and available resources of each district. If there are better possibilities for making biogas from cow dung in any district, then the focus will be on it; In other districts, units of organic manure, cow wood or cow urine based products will be established. This innovative initiative will not only make the Gaushalas self-reliant but will also create new and permanent sources of employment at the rural level.
