Gurugram, July 29 (HS). The survey of bulk waste generators (BWGs) in Zone-1 area has been completed. During the survey, a total of 109 BWGs were found, which have been issued notices to manage the waste as per the rules. Out of these, 15 BWGs have also been challaned for Rs 25,000 each.

Joint Commissioner-1 of Municipal Corporation Gurugram, Pradeep Kumar, informed on Monday that under the Solid Waste Management Rules-2016, it is mandatory for all bulk waste generators located within the limits of Municipal Corporation Gurugram to dispose of the waste on their premises themselves. Under this, the waste should be separated into wet, dry and domestic hazardous categories. Manure or biogas should be made from wet waste and dry and domestic hazardous waste should be disposed of through the concerned recycler. There is a provision to impose a fine of Rs 25,000 on the concerned BWG for violating the rules.
