Notice issued to 6 employees of Mumbai hospital for making paper plates from patient report paper

Paper plate was made from patient report paper: A show cause notice has been issued to King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital in Mumbai, Maharashtra. This is a convenient hospital for citizens. A video of making paper plates from patient report paper has gone viral. After this, a show cause notice has been issued to six employees. According to the agency, an official said on Saturday that after the video clip, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has formed a committee to investigate the incident.

Former Mayor Kishori Pednekar shared the video

Former mayor Kishori Pednekar released this video on social media. In which a video of paper plates with names of hospitals, patients and medical procedures was shared. She accused the hospital administration of “gross negligence”.

What did the hospital say in response?

KEM dean Dr Sangeeta Rawat clarified, “These plates are not made from patient reports. These are not patient reports, these are old CT scan folders, which were given to scrap dealers for reuse. The only fault is that these papers were not torn. They were torn into pieces before being uprooted.”

Show cause notice has been issued to six employees

In this regard, BMC has formed a committee under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (Public Health) to investigate the incident. Apart from this, the Municipal Administration Department has also sought an explanation from the Dean of the hospital.
