‘Not the Election Commission, but directionless leadership is responsible’: Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s sharp attack on Congress’s election defeat.

These days, there is a fierce battle in the country’s politics between the Election Commission and political parties. Meanwhile, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan Has made a very sharp attack on the Congress Party and its leadership. Hitting back at the Congress blaming the Election Commission for its continuous electoral defeats, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has clearly said that the reason for the plight of the Congress is not any constitutional institution, but the party’s own ‘directionless leadership’, which has completely lost the pulse of the people and the ground reality.

The reason for Congress’s defeat is none other than their own internal strife.

While addressing an important press conference at the BJP headquarters in the capital Delhi, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan took the Congress party to task. He said that after repeatedly facing defeat in the election field, blaming the defeat on impartial and constitutional institutions like the Election Commission has now become an old habit and a fixed pattern of the Congress. Citing major states like Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, Chauhan said that the Congress party is failing to manage its own house. Due to ongoing internal strife and factionalism in Punjab, the party had to repeatedly change its leadership, while in Uttar Pradesh too, mutual tussle between leaders at the provincial level is well known. When there is lack of coordination within the party and the leadership is directionless, then the public rejects it.

It has become the nature of Congress to target constitutional institutions.

This sharp statement of Shivraj Singh Chauhan has come at a time when the Congress Party and the opposition ‘INDI’ Alliance are demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, citing alleged irregularities in the voter list and other electoral processes. The opposition parties are continuously adopting an aggressive stance on these issues and are protesting from the streets to the court. Expressing strong objection to this, the Union Minister said that putting unnecessary pressure on the constitutional institutions and making unreasonable allegations against them to hide their political failures is not at all appropriate for the democracy of the country.
