The celebration of T20 World Cup victory is still on
It has been two months since the T20 World Cup 2024 title was won, but the celebrations are not over yet. Captain Rohit Sharma along with the BCCI secretary took the World Cup trophy to the Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai yesterday.
Credit for victory was given to these veterans and not to Kohli-Bumrah or Hardik
After being named the best male international cricketer of the year at the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards, Rohit Sharma on Wednesday praised former head coach Rahul Dravid, selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar and others, saying, “These legends have given full support in trying to achieve the best. The players have given, due to which India has been successful in winning the T20 World Cup 2024 title.
With this victory, Rohit said goodbye to the T20 format
Under Rohit's captaincy, India won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating South Africa in the final in June. This was India's second T20 World Cup win after 2007 and Rohit bid farewell to the T20 format with this victory.
Providing an environment where the team can play freely without worrying about the results
After being selected as the Men's International Cricketer of the Year at the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards, Rohit said, “My dream was to give the team such an environment where they can play freely without worrying about the results. For which these legends have helped me a lot.”
Rohit further said, 'It was very important for me to be able to do what I did and of course not to forget the players who came at different times and helped the team achieve its goals. Winning the T20 World Cup was a feeling that does not come every day. It was something we all expected. When we won the World Cup, it was important for everyone to enjoy the moment, which we did very well and thanks to the people of the country who celebrated with us.'
