The relationship between Mahadev, the God of Gods, and serpents is believed to have existed since ancient times. The residence of Vasuki serpent around the neck of Lord Shiva has always been a center of reverence for the devotees. Here, in the holy month of Sawan, not only humans, but also poisonous snakes and cobras regularly reach the sanctum sanctorum of the temple to participate in the Aarti of Lord Bholenath.

According to local villagers and temple priests, this is not a one-day incident but this trend is being seen continuously during Sawan for the last several years. As soon as it is time for Sandhya Aarti in the temple in the evening and the sound of conch shells, gongs and bells spread in the atmosphere, a pair of cobras start crawling from nearby bushes or holes and moving straight towards the temple.
The snakes circle the Shivalinga peacefully without harming anyone and sometimes spread their hoods and sit near the Shivalinga as if they are participating in the Aarti of Mahadev with full concentration.
There is no fear among the devotees, a wonderful sight of unwavering faith.
Generally, on seeing poisonous snakes, an atmosphere of panic is created among the people and people start running away. However, the scene in this temple is completely opposite. Local devotees say that this pair of snakes passes through hundreds of devotees present in the temple premises, but till date they have not caused any harm to any devotee or living creature.
After the aarti is over and prasad is distributed, the couple slowly returns to their place. Devotees consider this to be a direct miracle of Lord Shiva and an exclusive devotion to the snake god and bow down with full devotion.
Couple mysteriously disappears after Sawan
The most mysterious thing about this temple is that this regular presence of snakes is seen mainly only in the month of Sawan. As soon as the month of Sawan ends, this couple automatically disappears from the temple premises and is visible again during the Sawan days of the next year. To see this miraculous scene with their own eyes, on the Monday of Sawan and on the occasion of Nag Panchami, thousands of devotees from far-flung areas come here to perform darshan and Jalabhishek.

Biologists and wildlife experts believe that during the rainy and monsoon seasons, snakes often come out of their holes to fill water and in search of food and sometimes take shelter on the cool or cold floor of the temple.
On the contrary, the local devotees and those who believe in the Sanatan tradition have a strong opinion that if the sensitive reptiles that run away from the sound and vibration are sitting peacefully near the Shivalinga amidst the loud aarti and crowd, then it is not just science but it is a living proof of the spiritual dedication of the living beings towards Mahadev and supernatural devotion to Shiva.
