iPhone smuggling in India: The Indian government is making many efforts to stop the problem of smuggling in India. Till now the most expensive watches, jewelery including gold and diamonds were smuggled, but now cases of theft of not only the price of gold but also iPhones being sold at higher prices are coming to the fore. A case of iPhone smuggling worth Rs 1 lakh has come to light at Delhi Airport.
There was a stir at Delhi Airport when the Customs Department team found 26 iPhones in the bag of a female passenger. The woman was coming to Delhi from Hong Kong. According to the Customs Department, 26 iPhone 16 Pro Max were found in the woman's vanity bag. The case seems to be one of smuggling as the precious iPhone was found wrapped in tissue paper. Investigation has been started in this matter by top officials of the Customs Department.
On this matter, the Customs Department said in a statement that a female passenger coming from Hong Kong to Delhi has been arrested. The woman was carrying 26 iPhone 16 Pro Max, worth around Rs 40 lakh, hidden in tissue paper in her vanity bag. About which the woman is being interrogated.
Customs officials are currently investigating further to determine the circumstances surrounding the smuggling attempt and whether the passenger was acting alone or whether a similar larger smuggling operation is underway at Delhi or other airports.
In India, the new iPhone 16 Pro Max comes in three storage variants – 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. The price of these three models respectively is Rs. Rs 1,44,900 1,64,999 and Rs. Is 1,84,900. In such a situation, as the investigation of this case progresses, it is expected that a big revelation can be made in this entire matter.
