Upasana Singh, who is now known for her role as aunt in ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ herself revealed this. She told in an interview that she was selected for the role of Bhagyashree in Rajshri Productions’ film ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’.
In an interview given to Siddharth Kanan, Upasana said,
“Sooraj Barjatya selected me after the audition. He told me the story of the film and said that I was perfect for this role.”
Why were you rejected?
Upasana further told that Sooraj Barjatya had told her,
“Meet my dad tomorrow, but you’re okay with me.”
However, things changed the next day when she went to meet Sooraj Barjatya’s father Rajkumar Barjatya.

When Upasana was shooting for ‘Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon’, Rajkumar Barjatya himself said this in front of everyone.
“He said that Upasana was our first choice for ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ in front of Kareena Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan.”

Upasana revealed that she was rejected because she was taller than Salman Khan. Rajkumar Barjatya told,
“We didn’t cast you because you were taller than Salman. We wanted to cast an actress who looked younger than Salman.”
