OSLO: Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Storr announced on Wednesday that Norway will recognize Palestine as an independent and sovereign state despite the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel in Gaza. Recognizes Palestine as an independent and sovereign state. Explaining the reason for this, Storr said that unless Palestine is recognized as an independent nation, there is no possibility of peace in the Middle East.
Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris said on Wednesday that he would follow the steps taken by Spain and Norway (recognising Palestine as an independent nation). He said today is a historic day for Palestine and Ireland.
Through this, age-old disputes can be resolved. (Actually a conflict between the Jews of Israel and the Arabs who have settled there for centuries)
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said that Spain would recognize Palestine as an independent state on 28 May. He further said that since 1989, 139 of the 193 UN member states have accepted the statehood (independent state) of Palestine. Furthermore, Slovenia and Malta adhered to advance recognition of Palestine and the Irish Prime Minister considered the two-state formula to be the only solution to the conflict.
Naturally, Israel is overwhelmed by all this. It has recalled its ambassadors from Norway, Spain and Ireland.
