Guwahati, 29 October (Hindustan Reporter). North Eastern Frontier Railway (NUFR) has taken several initiatives to ensure safety and comfortable travel of passengers this festive season, so that there is no compromise in the quality of service. In view of the rush of passengers, a total of 44 pairs of special trains are being operated from the jurisdiction of Pushira, which includes more than 500 trips. Apart from the scheduled passenger trains, these special trains are being run for Diwali and Chhath Puja to connect major destinations towards eastern and northern parts of the country like the state of West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

PUCARE CPRO Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said on Tuesday that during the festivals, PUCARE has systematically increased security measures at all major stations and trains under its jurisdiction. Extensive crowd control arrangements have been made at all major and important railway stations. A senior officer of the Commerce Department has been deployed to monitor all the activities to control the crowd at the stations in a systematic manner. Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police have been deployed on platforms, foot-over bridges and circulating areas to avoid stampede-like situations during heavy rush and to smoothly control the crowd. Additionally, CCTV control rooms have been installed to keep a close watch on crowded areas and provide real-time assistance to passengers. Queuing system has been adopted for entry into general coaches at the originating stations of trains. Proper announcement about trains/coaches is ensured on time, so that passengers are aware of the location of platforms from where trains will depart. Arrangements have been made for easy boarding and deboarding of trains at the originating and destination stations. Special campaigns are being run by PUC on regular basis to create awareness among the passengers while traveling in trains during the festive season.
