The scorching heat continues in most parts of the country. It has become difficult for people to get out of the house. There has been severe heat in the plains of North India for the last five days, due to which life has become completely disrupted.
The Meteorological Department has issued a 'red alert' for Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi and parts of western Uttar Pradesh for the next five days. IMD said that the maximum day temperature may cross 47 degrees Celsius in many districts of these states.
According to the Meteorological Department, the scorching heat will continue. Naresh Kumar, senior scientist at IMD, said, “Red alert of heat wave has been issued for Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and orange alert for northern parts of Madhya Pradesh for the next 5 days. There will be rain in Tamil Nadu, Kerala for the next 2-3 days.”
He said, “Due to the western disturbance, there has been a slight drop in the maximum temperature in Punjab and Haryana, but after that it will gradually increase by 2 to 3 degrees. We have already issued a 'red alert' for both these states. A red alert has been issued for the neighboring state of Uttar Pradesh and an orange alert for the northern parts of Madhya Pradesh for the next five days.
While there is scorching heat in the north, there is likely to be some respite in the south, as a senior IMD scientist said heavy to very heavy rainfall of up to 12 cm is likely over Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the next two-three days. Meanwhile, continuous rain was seen in the surrounding areas of Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu.
Talking about North India, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert of heat wave for the next five days. With the IMD declaring 'red alert' for the national capital and other parts of North India, health experts have warned people not to step out especially between 11 pm and 4 am as it could put their health at risk.
