Implementing the Government of India’s vision of digital transformation, transparent administration and strong e-governance, North Central Railway (NCR) has achieved another historic milestone in the field of administrative efficiency. North Central Railway has successfully launched the state-of-the-art ‘TOTAL’ (TA & OT Online Claim Portal) for quick, easy and completely transparent settlement of Traveling Allowances (TA) and Overtime Allowances (OT) of Railway employees. With the launch of this modern web-based digital application, thousands of Railway employees will be freed from the hassle of paper formalities and long files.
General Manager Naresh Pal Singh inaugurates ‘Total’ portal: Digital solution developed in-house
This modern portal was formally inaugurated by Naresh Pal Singh, General Manager, North Central Railway, during a dignified ceremony held on 22 September 2026 at North Central Railway Headquarters, Prayagraj. Many senior administrative officers and technical experts of Railways were also present on this occasion. This unique digital solution has been designed and developed completely ‘in-house’ by North Central Railway’s own IT department under the able leadership of Tarun Kumar Shukla (CMIT) with the aim of making the working of Railway employees completely seamless and hi-tech, which also reinforces the spirit of self-reliant India.
HRMS OTP and live tracking facility: Freedom from manual calculations and human errors.
The ‘Total’ portal covers the entire lifecycle of TA and OT claims of employees in a highly secure manner. Under this digital system, employees will now be able to submit their monthly journals directly through online medium. Keeping the security and privacy of the system paramount, the verification process has been linked with a One-Time Password (OTP) sent to the mobile number registered with HRMS. Apart from this, employees can also live track the status of their claim sitting at home. Accurate calculation of allowances as per the rules of Chapter XVI of the Indian Railway Establishment Code will now be done automatically by the system, completely eliminating the old need for manual calculations and leaving no scope for human errors.
Direct benefit to more than 67,000 employees: Portal will be fully implemented in 20-25 days
At the administrative level, this system will provide officers with better workflow management, detailed reporting and easy audit-tracking, thereby eliminating the problem of unnecessary stoppage or delay of files forever. Traveling Allowance (TA) claims have been included in the first phase of this ambitious scheme, while Over Time (OT) claims will also be added in the upcoming second phase. This portal will be fully implemented within the next 20-25 days, which will provide direct and immediate benefits to more than 67,000 serving employees of North Central Railway.
