Nora Fatehi Defamation Case: Nora Fatehi stuck in legal trouble over ‘toy plane’ comment! Chartered company files ₹3 crore defamation case, alleges 20% decline in bookings

Bollywood actress and dancer Nora Fatehi is embroiled in a legal dispute regarding one of her social media posts. Chartered Flight Operator Company ‘Dunes Aviation’ Has filed a civil defamation case of ₹ 3 crore against Nora Fatehi in Gandhinagar Court of Gujarat.

The company alleges that Nora Fatehi made a video from inside the plane during its flight and shared it on social media and gave the plane analogies like ‘toy’, ‘miniature’ and ‘Lego aeroplane’. The company claims that since Nora has more than 46 million followers on Instagram, her irresponsible statement has caused confusion among the public, causing huge loss to the company’s reputation and business. According to the details recorded in the case, the incident took place in December last year when Nora Fatehi was traveling with her team from Mumbai to Jaipur for an event:

• Cessna Citation CJ2 aircraft: Dunes Aviation’s medium-range business jet ‘Cessna Citation CJ2’ was chartered for the trip.

• Viral video on Instagram: During the flight, Nora Fatehi reportedly recorded videos in a sarcastic tone, showing the size and layout of the cabin. Commenting on the small size of the plane, he described it as a ‘toy’ and a ‘plane made of Lego blocks’ that children play with.

• Reaction on social media: After Nora shared this video on her Instagram account, it quickly went viral and people started raising questions about the safety of the chartered plane.

Dunes Aviation, in its petition, has argued that this baseless statement made by an international celebrity has had a direct and serious impact on the company’s commercial operations:

• Piles of booking cancellations: The company says that after the video surfaced, many corporate clients and passengers canceled their previously scheduled flights.

• Business reduced by 20%: According to the firm, it experienced a 15 to 20 percent decline in total charter bookings in the weeks after the video aired.

• Rhetoric without technical knowledge: The company said in the petition that Nora made a careless and sensational statement without any technical understanding, investigation or legal facts.

The airline has clarified before the court that the Cessna Citation CJ2 aircraft in which the actress traveled is a standard and industry-class jet for the route and the number of passengers.

According to the company:

• Aircraft Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and was airworthy.

• Company holds valid Non-Scheduled Operator Permit (NSOP) was operating this service legally.

• The structure of private jets is different from the larger Boeing or Airbus aircraft of commercial airlines, but that does not mean that they are unsafe or inferior.

Dunes Aviation has sought financial damages of ₹3 crore from the court along with two major reliefs:

1. Order to remove post from social media: The court should direct social media platforms and Nora Fatehi to immediately remove all videos, comments and references related to the plane.

2. Public clarification and apology: The company has demanded that Nora Fatehi issue a public clarification from her social media handles so that the reputation of the company can be restored.

At present, no official statement has come from Nora Fatehi or her legal team on this matter. Now all eyes are on the court hearing to be held on September 25.
