For crores of air passengers of National Capital Region (NCR) and Western Uttar Pradesh, a big and relief news has come out from Noida International Airport (Jewar). The scope of domestic flights network from the Greenfield Airport at Jewar is continuously being expanded. Now direct non-stop flights are going to start for two major metros of the country – Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal and Bengaluru, the IT hub of South India. This new service will be a great and time-saving option for passengers who are often troubled by heavy traffic, terminal congestion and long queues at security check at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). Passengers of Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura and Agra will now be completely freed from the compulsion of going to Delhi to catch a flight.
According to information received from airlines and airport authorities, Akasa Air and IndiGo have included these two major routes in their winter and post-monsoon schedules on priority basis. Direct daily non-stop flights are being started from Noida International Airport (IATA code: DXN) to Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU) and Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (BLR). For both these routes, flight booking windows have also been opened on online ticketing platforms and OTA portals of major airlines. In the initial phase, daily morning and evening time slots have been given for both the metros so that corporate professionals and business travelers can complete their meetings and return in the same day.
With the start of non-stop flights from Noida to Bengaluru and Kolkata, there will be a huge reduction in travel time. The non-stop flight time from Noida International Airport to Bengaluru (DXN to BLR) will be approximately 2 hours 35 minutes to 2 hours 50 minutes. Whereas the distance from Kolkata (DXN to CCU) can be covered in just 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes. Talking about the fare, under the initial promotional offer, the one-way economy class fare from Noida to Kolkata has been kept in the range of around ₹ 6,900 to ₹ 8,000. At the same time, the starting base fare from Noida to Bengaluru has been fixed between around ₹ 7,800 to ₹ 8,500. In view of the huge demand from passengers during festive seasons like Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath, ticket prices may fluctuate as per the Dynamic Pricing system.
Bengaluru is considered the Silicon Valley of India, where thousands of software professionals, startup founders and tech experts commute to and from Delhi-NCR every week. Noida and Greater Noida themselves have developed into the country’s largest IT and electronics manufacturing hubs. In such a situation, the corporate sector will get a huge boost with the start of direct flights from Jewar to Bangalore. Similarly, establishment of direct connectivity with Kolkata, the largest trading center of Eastern India, will greatly facilitate the freight and business movement for the traders of Western UP involved in leather industry, textile business, bullion market and handicrafts. As per the plan of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), the first phase of the airport has been developed to handle 1.2 crore passengers every year. After Mumbai, Lucknow, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Srinagar, now the addition of busy metro routes like Kolkata and Bengaluru will significantly increase the operational capacity and revenue of the airport. Preparations are underway to start additional domestic flights to Chennai, Goa, Guwahati, Patna and Varanasi in the coming months, after which operation of international flights will also get the green signal from here.
