Imphal: Government employees keep getting good news in some form or the other, but this time a bad news has come for these employees. The Manipur government on Wednesday introduced a 'no-work, no-pay' rule for its employees who are missing or absent from office 'without valid and acceptable reasons'.
An office memorandum from the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms said that officers who are unable to attend office at their normal place of posting due to the prevailing law and order situation in the state have been attached to Deputy Commissioners/Line Departments/Fields . Is. To enable the level offices to function from there or discharge such responsibilities as may be assigned to them by the concerned Deputy Commissioners or officers duly authorized in this behalf.
It further said that there have been reports that many such officers are not attending or reporting for duty in the offices to which they are attached. The circular said that Deputy Commissioners, Heads of Departments have been informed to maintain registers to record the attendance of the said 'attached officers' and distribute the records along with reports of inappropriate conduct, if any. Will be shared with the responsible people.
