Railway stations where people buy tickets but do not travel: Indian Railways is called the lifeline of the country. Lakhs of people travel through this lifeline every day. You must have heard a lot about traveling without a ticket. But have you ever heard that people buy tickets but never travel? If not, then let us tell you about a railway station where people buy tickets but do not travel.
Where is this railway station?
There is a railway station in Uttar Pradesh where people do not travel despite buying tickets. This unique railway station is located in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The name of this unique railway station is Dayalpur Railway Station. People from the villages around this railway station buy tickets from the railway station every day and go back without travelling.
Why is this railway station special?
The construction work of Dayalpur Railway Station started in 1954. The country's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had shown special interest in its construction. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru requested the then Railway Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri to help him build the Dayalpur Railway Station.
What is the reason behind this?
If there is a station on the main railway line then at least 50 tickets should be sold there every day. At the same time, if a station is on a branch line, then at least 25 tickets should be sold there every day. Due to non-fulfillment of this criterion, Indian Railways closed Dayalpur railway station in 2016. Therefore, the local people requested several times for the renovation of this railway station and it was renovated in the year 2022. So since then local people buy tickets from the station every day to keep the station alive. However, this station is opened only as a halt and only 1-2 trains stop here.
