According to a report by DW, in September, the body of an 11-year-old child was found in the car of a school administrator at DL Public School in Hathras, UP. Police have arrested five people, including school manager Dinesh Baghel and his father Yashodan, on charges of murder of the child. Now in this case it is coming to light that the school director's father Yashodana used to perform tantric rituals and he decided to sacrifice the child for the progress of the school and to get rid of the debt.

NCRB statistics on human sacrifice

Let us now tell you how many such cases are there in the entire country in which humans were sacrificed due to witchcraft. According to the data of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), a total of 8 cases of human sacrifice have been reported in the country in the year 2022. If we look at the figures from 2014 to 2022, this number becomes 111. This is the number in which human sacrifices were made but, there are also many cases in which people were murdered on suspicion of witchcraft. Let us now take a look at those cases.

NCRB data shows that in the year 2022, 85 people lost their lives due to witchcraft. Whereas in the year 2021 this number was 68. According to the DW report, a total of 1064 people have died due to witchcraft from 2013 to 2022. Most of these cases are of women who were killed after being declared witches. Let us tell you that in states like Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand, maximum incidents of murder of women by calling them witches have been reported.
