Nitish's demand from the Center

New Delhi: The issue of giving special status to Bihar has once again heated up. In the meeting of the National Executive of Janata Dal United (JDU) held on Saturday, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar once again demanded the central government to give Bihar special status or a special package. Either of these is necessary for the economic development of Bihar. However, this time Nitish has adopted a slightly softer stance. He has given the option of a special package while insisting on special status.

Now since Nitish Kumar has stopped giving such an option, discussions have started in the political corridors of Delhi. In the JDU's national executive meeting, Sanjay Jha was made the acting chief of the party. Sanjay Jha is a leader whose background is Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). His close relationship with many BJP leaders is also being discussed.

It is believed that his role was important in JDU's return to the NDA alliance this year. So by giving him the number two role in JDU, Nitish has made it clear that he does not want any kind of conflict with BJP. After becoming the working president, Sanjay Jha also put an end to the speculations of JDU remaining in the NDA and said that JDU will remain in the NDA.

At the same time, JDU has been demanding special state status for Bihar for a long time. Six months ago, when Nitish led the Grand Alliance government in Bihar, the state cabinet approved the proposal for special status and sent it to the Center. However, Nitish left the Grand Alliance and joined the NDA. Now he is being pressured to pass a similar proposal again in the cabinet and send it to the Center. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh also made this demand from Nitish Kumar on Saturday.

It is believed that Nitish Kumar suspected that the demand for special status for Bihar could become a cause of conflict between BJP and JDU. In view of this, he put two options before the Modi government. If special status cannot be given, then give a special package to Bihar. This will also be easy for the Modi government, which has refused to give special status to Bihar many times. JDU, which gets the special package, will be able to tell the public that they have fulfilled their demands from the Center. With this, both BJP and JDU will be able to claim this achievement as theirs in the Bihar elections.
