Nitish-Naidu duo gave Modi government a tough time, list of demands worth Rs 4.80 lakh crore

Budget 2024: While the central government is going to present the general budget on July 23, it is being told that Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu have taken up the list of demands of Rs 4.80 lakh crore before the budget.

The Modi government is dependent on the support of 12 members of Nitish's JDU and 16 members of Chandrababu's TDP, both of whom are trying to create an impression for the Modi government. Both Chandrababu and Nitish are demanding special economic packages for their respective states.

Demand for long term loan from central government

Both Chandrababu and Nitish Kumar have submitted a list of their demands to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Interestingly, both have demanded a long-term loan of Rs 1 lakh crore each from the central government. This means that both have colluded and demanded the same amount.

Demand for a big package for infrastructure spending!

At present, the central government is giving a long-term loan of Rs 50,000 crore to the states for infrastructure without any conditions. It is said that Chandrababu and Nitish Kumar have demanded to double the loan amount to Rs 1 lakh crore each.

Conversation with Prime Minister and Finance Minister

When Chandrababu met the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister last week, he gave a list of what should be in the budget for Andhra Pradesh. Chandrababu has demanded a large amount for the development of Andhra's new capital Amaravati and the Polavaram irrigation project. Apart from this, the backward Manatha of the state has demanded an international level port in Ramayapatnam district and the central government's iron project in Kadapa district.

What are the demands of Naidu and Nitish?

Chandrababu has also demanded that the Centre sanction metro railways in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Amaravati and bear the cost. Nitish Kumar has sanctioned nine new airports, two power projects, two river water projects and 7 medical colleges in Bihar and has sought central funds for them.

The budget session begins on July 22

During the interim budget presented in Parliament on February 1 this year, the government has allocated about Rs 1.3 lakh crore to the states under the special assistance scheme for capital investment. Half of this amount was allocated on the condition of implementing certain economic reforms. The new NDA government at the Center is going to present the Union Budget on July 23 and the budget session of Parliament will begin from July 22 and continue till August 12.
