Patna, September 23 (HS). Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has appointed Shyam Rajak, a prominent Dalit face who recently left the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and joined the Janata Dal United (JDU), as the national general secretary of the party.
JDU general secretary Afaq Ahmed Khan issued a letter on Monday informing about this. Along with this, Arun Kumar has been appointed as the co-incharge of Jharkhand. Former MLA and former minister Shyam Rajak resigned from RJD on 22nd August. Shyam Rajak sent his resignation to national president Lalu Yadav, in which he wrote about resigning from the post of national general secretary and primary membership of the party.
Regarding Shyam Rajak's resignation, Tejashwi had said that his leaving the party will not have any effect on the health of RJD. After this, on September 1 this month, Shyam Rajak, who was a minister in the Bihar government, joined JDU for the second time. Shyam Rajak was given party membership by JDU's acting national president Sanjay Kumar Jha and now national president Nitish Kumar has given him a big responsibility and made him the national general secretary of the party.
Shyam Rajak, who started politics with Lalu-Rabri, was a minister for a long time during the RJD regime. After the RJD regime ended in 2005, Shyam Rajak joined JDU in 2009. In 2010, he was made a minister in the Nitish government. Just before the 2020 assembly elections, Shyam Rajak resigned from the ministerial post and JDU membership and joined RJD. In the 2020 assembly elections, Lalu-Tejaswi cheated him and denied him a ticket. Shyam Rajak was the national general secretary of RJD but he was isolated from the mainstream of the party. In such a situation, he thought it better to return to his old home and joined JDU again.
