Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said something big. He has said that the true test of democracy is whether the ruler listens to his opposition or not. He tolerates everyone's opinion and introspects on himself. Gadkari said this at a program of a university in Pune.

Gadkari said that writers, thinkers and poets should express their views openly and fearlessly and this is what is expected of them. The BJP leader further said that if there is any ultimate test of democracy, then it is that no matter how strongly you present your views before the ruler, the ruler has to tolerate it.

Critics should be made neighbors

He said that the rulers should consider those ideas and work on them. This is the true expectation in democracy. Gadkari said that one always needs to be surrounded by critics to recognize one's shortcomings. Meanwhile, he mentioned his mother. Gadkari said that my mother used to say to me in childhood, 'Nindche aur nehmi aase shejari'. This means that the critic should be our neighbor so that he can point out our mistakes.

Objected to familyism and casteism

These days Gadkari participates in many programs in Maharashtra and gives various statements. Recently, he attacked nepotism and casteism in a program in Nagpur. Expressing his objection to nepotism, he said, it is said in our culture, Vasudev Kutumbakam, the welfare of the world should be done. It is not said in our culture that my welfare should come first, my son's welfare should come first. Whatever happens, give tickets to my wife and my son.

Gadkari said that this is happening because people vote for them, but the day people decide not to vote for such people, they will be fine in a minute. The BJP leader said that people should prove their capability.
