Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has expressed deep concern over the rising income and inequality of money in India. He said that a large part of wealth in the country is being shrinked in a few hands, which is a worrying situation. In this context, Gadkari underlined the importance of liberalization, privatization and globalization (LPG) reforms implemented in 1991 under the leadership of former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao and the then Finance Minister (and later Prime Minister) Dr. Manmohan Singh. He admitted that these reforms played an important role in opening the Indian economy to the world and changing the country’s economic scenario.
At the same time, Nitin Gadkari also emphasized that only last improvement is not enough to bridge the existing economic inequalities in the country. According to him, it is extremely important to develop infrastructure on a large scale and create new employment opportunities. Gadkari believes that large investment in infrastructure will not only promote economic growth, but it will also prove to be important in ensuring inclusive development and raising the standard of living of common citizens of the country, especially the poor and villagers.
