Guwahati, July 19 (HS). The NFR Employees Union today staged a protest in support of their various demands at the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) headquarters complex in Maligaon, the capital.
On the call of National Employees Council, protests were organized in front of the main offices of Railways across the country as well as in front of the NFR headquarters complex, regarding the main demands of the Indian Railway Mazdoor Sangh, including stopping the new pension policy and implementing the old pension policy, announcing the eighth pay policy, etc.
In front of the NFR headquarters, employees under the leadership of NFR Employees Union raised slogans accusing the government of adopting anti-labour policies.
Central President of NFR Employees Union Jitu Hazarika and General Secretary Harish Bhuiyan said that on July 23, a memorandum was sent to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman through the General Manager of NFR, demanding to stop the new pension policy in the general budget and implement the old pension, formation of the eighth pay commission, filling the vacant posts of twenty lakh employees, increase in income tax up to eight lakhs, increase of Rs 15 lakh in employee life insurance.
