Guwahati, August 14 (HS). On August 14, the day of partition of India, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) celebrated Partition Horrors Remembrance Day as Black Chapter Day at many places. On this occasion, exhibition stalls were set up for the general public at many railway stations.
Along with other parts of the country, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) also observed Partition Horrors Remembrance Day as a black chapter at many railway stations under its jurisdiction through exhibition stalls, hoardings and photographs to showcase the pain suffered by Indians due to partition of India in 1947. Various programmes were organised at NFR Headquarters, Maligaon and Katihar, Kishanganj, New Jalpaiguri, Siliguri Junction, Balurghat, Darjeeling, Alipurduar, New Coochbehar, Falakata, New Mal Junction, Kokrajhar, Rangiya Junction, Barpeta Road, New Bongaigaon Junction, Goalpara Town, Rangapara North, Gahpur, Guwahati, Lumding, Silchar, Agartala, Dimapur, Jorhat Town, Mariani Junction, North Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh and New Tinsukia stations to showcase the tragedy of partition.
