Prayagraj, 01 October (Hindustan Reporter). On the revision petition filed demanding a survey of the Wujukhana located at Gyanvapi Masjid by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the High Court has directed the petitioner's advocate to file the report of the earlier survey. The next hearing of the case will now be on October 22.

On Tuesday, the petition filed by Rakhi Singh was heard in the bench of Justice Rohit Ranjan Aggarwal. Petitioner's advocate Saurabh Tiwari filed a supplementary affidavit. The Muslim side also filed a counter affidavit.

In the earlier hearing, the court had directed the petitioner's advocate to present the petition filed by co-accused Lakshmi Devi and others demanding ASI survey of Shivling in the Varanasi court.

The temple side says that a scientific survey of the area around Shivalinga is necessary to determine the religious character of the Gyanvapi complex. He said that the area around Shivalinga (Vujukhana) was not included in the scientific survey conducted by ASI from July 24 to November 2, 2023. The High Court asked the petitioner's advocate that when the Supreme Court has stayed the order of the High Court regarding the scientific survey of Shivling, then how can this court give such order?

According to the advocate, the present revision petition of Rakhi Singh is regarding the scientific survey by ASI of the rest of the area except Shivling and is different from the application of Lakshmi Devi. Rakhi Singh's revision petition challenges the Varanasi District Judge's rejection of her application demanding survey of the ablutions shed.

The High Court has instructed Rakhi Singh's advocate to file a copy of the ASI survey report. On which he has given assurance of filing it before the next hearing.
