News should be broadcast only after fact checking: Public Relations Director Gupta | News India

Gwalior, August 29 (HS). The public trusts what we write and say. Therefore, we must fact check, that is, we should broadcast the news only after confirming the truth. When the news is factual and correct, the public's trust in us increases. Public Relations Director Anshul Gupta said this while addressing the divisional workshop organized on Thursday on skill development of New Age Media, Convergence, Social Media and Digital Media. In the workshop, Makhanlal Chaturvedi National Journalism and Communication University's Dean and Head of Department New Media Technology Dr. P. Shashikala, University's Registrar Dr. Avinash Vajpayee, Director Training Dr. Jaya Surjani gave useful lectures.

In the first technical session of the workshop, Dr. P. Sasikala, Head of the Department of New Media Technology, Makhanlal Chaturvedi University, gave a presentation on “Special Reference to Fact Checking of Social Media News and Stories”. She explained various aspects of new media in detail. She also said that how the beneficial schemes of the government can be disseminated to the common man as much as possible with the use of social media and how branding can be done with the use of social media. Dr. Sasikala said that it is necessary for us to do fact checking for the use of social media. Social media should be used very carefully and misinformation and disinformation should be avoided.

Fake news was discussed in the workshop. It was also said that journalists should avoid it and present news and information carefully. Along with this, detailed information was also given about deep fake. To avoid this, information about Google Fact Check Tool was also provided in the workshop.

In the second technical session, Ashish Sahu made a presentation on AI for journalism. He said that journalism has become very easy with the use of AI and we can do the work of many hours in minutes. Sahu also explained the use of Chat GPT in detail. He also gave information about news related tools. He said that some tools are free while some are paid. By having accurate and correct information about AI tools, we can avoid some cyber frauds.

Registrar Dr. Avinash Vajpayee said that today development journalism is getting very little space in our news media. Dr. Vajpayee also gave information about the prevalence of social media and the employment opportunities it provides.

Director Training Makhanlal Chaturvedi National Journalism and Communication University Dr. Jaya Surjani gave a lecture on social media and public relations. She explained how public relations can be done effectively for any organization through social media.

At the end of the workshop, Additional Director in-charge Sanjay Jain expressed his gratitude to everyone. Public Relations Officers, Social Media Handlers, representatives from News Age Media and Social Media Influencers from all districts of Gwalior and Chambal Division participated in the workshop held at Tansen Residency on Thursday.
