Big news can be received on Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) of central employees. The money of about one crore central employees and pensioners who have been waiting for the arrears of 18 months of Dearness Allowance (DA) during the Covid period for a long time has finally come to the government. DA and DR were stopped from January 2020 to June 2021 due to the Covid 19 epidemic which is now being seen as available fuel.
Proposed
According to media reports, Shiv Gopal Mishra (Secretary, National Council (Employees Side), Joint Consultative Machinery for Central Government Employees) has appealed to the Central Government to pay the pending DA arrears of 18 months. In a letter to PM Modi, Mishra said that as Secretary (Workers Side) of the National Council (JCM), it is my duty to draw your attention to some important issues which are disturbing the minds of central government employees and pensioners. Earlier, Mukesh Singh, General Secretary of Bharatiya Paryatan Mazdoor Sangh had also urged the Central Government to pay the DA arrears pending for 18 months.
An appeal had been made earlier too
Earlier also, Mukesh Singh, general secretary of Bharatiya Pratirodh Mazdoor Sangh, had urged the central government to pay the amount. In a letter addressed to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Singh said, “I understand the challenges posed by the Covid pandemic and the financial situation created by it.” However, our country is slowly coming out of the effects of the pandemic. It is heartening to see the improvement in the financial condition of the country. Let us tell you here that the central government had stopped the payment of DA and DR for a total of 18 months from January 2020 to June 2021.
It is worth noting that the central government reviews DA twice a year in January and July. The dearness allowance of central government employees increased to 50 percent from January 1, 2024. Some allowances like House Rent Allowance (HRA) are also revised when DA reaches 50 percent.
Estimated hike
The new central government will present its first full budget in July. In this budget, an increase in dearness allowance of central employees can be announced. Due to which there can be a bumper increase in their basic salary. At present, employees are getting the benefit of 50 percent DA, which can be increased to 54 percent. If your salary is Rs 20,000, then Rs 800 can be increased monthly, which will result in an annual increase of Rs 9600.
Apart from this, Modi government can increase the fitment factor substantially. Currently, employees are getting 2.60 times the benefit of fitment factor. Which can be increased to 3.0.
