New rules related to Fastag will be implemented from August 1, know what will be the changes

Rules will change from August 1: Fastag should remain active. For this, one transaction is necessary within three months. If the transaction is not done, it will become inactive, to activate it you will have to go to the portal.

1st August A new rule is going to be implemented on services related to Fastag from now onwards. Now after buying a vehicle, the vehicle registration number will have to be uploaded on the Fastag number within 90 days. If the number is not updated within the stipulated time, it will be put in the hotlist. After that an additional time of 30 days will be given, but if the vehicle number is not updated even in that, the Fastag will be blacklisted. However, the relief is that the Fastag service provider companies will have to do the KYC of all five and three year old Fastags by 31 October.

Time till 31 October

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) had issued detailed guidelines regarding Fastag in June, in which August 1 was set as the date for Fastag service provider companies to start the KYC process. Now the companies will have time from August 1 to October 31 to fulfill all the conditions. According to the new conditions, the fee related to issuing a new Fastag and reissuing Fastag, security deposit and minimum recharge have also been determined by NPCI.

A separate guideline has also been issued by the Fastag service provider companies regarding this. In such a situation, the problem is going to increase for all those people who are buying a new vehicle or whose Fastag has become old. Along with this, people using Fastag will also have to be cautious now because from August 1, the rules related to blacklisting Fastag will also be affected. However, before this, the companies will have to fulfill all the conditions that have been set for them by NPCI.

These rules will come into effect from August 1

– Companies will have to replace five-year old Fastag on priority basis

– KYC will have to be done again for three year old Fastag

– Vehicle registration number and chassis number must be linked with Fastag

– After purchasing a new vehicle, its number must be updated within 90 days

– Vehicle database should be verified by FASTag service provider companies

– While doing KYC, clear photos of the front and side of the vehicle will have to be uploaded

-It will be mandatory to link Fastag with mobile number

– Services like app, WhatsApp and portal will have to be made available for KYC verification process

– Companies will have to fulfill KYC rules by 31 October 2024

  • Negative Balance – Rs 25 per quarter

If no transaction is done using Fastag for three months, it will be blocked

On the other hand, some Fastag companies have also added a rule that the Fastag should remain active. For this, one transaction is necessary within three months. This rule is going to create problems for those who use their vehicle only for a limited distance, in which no toll is deducted.
