The Indian cricket team captained by Rohit Sharma has reached the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2024. With this, it has also been decided that the Indian team will face England in the semi-finals. South Africa will face Afghanistan. Meanwhile, the new rules of the ICC for the semi-finals have also come out. The rules were slightly different in the matches played so far, which will change now.
2nd Semi-Final between India and England
The Indian team will be seen playing its semi-final match in Guyana on 27 June. Where we will face the England team. The match will be played from 8 pm Indian time. The toss will take place about half an hour before that i.e. at 7:30 pm. But the interesting thing is that there will be different rules for both the semi-finals. The ICC has provided a reserve day for the first semi-final. This means that if it rains in the match, it will be played the next day. But no reserve day has been kept for the match between India and England.
ICC gives extra 250 minutes for semi-finals
There is no reserve day in the match between India and England because the final will be played the next day i.e. on the evening of 29 June. Meanwhile, the ICC has informed that 250 minutes of extra time has been reserved for both the semi-finals. This means that if rain disrupts the match, then one will have to wait for about four hours. According to the rules, if it becomes necessary to extend the game by 60 more minutes in the first semi-final, then this will be done. When the match goes into the reserve day, 190 extra minutes will be given on that day. Whereas in the second semi-final, there is a provision to give 250 minutes extra to India on the day of the match.
The match should be of minimum 10 overs
By now you know that if a match is interrupted due to rain, then the match should be of at least 5 overs. That is, a match of less than 5 overs is considered cancelled, but if both the teams have played at least 5 overs, then the result is declared. But in the semi-finals, it has been increased. The result will not be known until both the teams have played at least 10 overs.
Rain threatens the semi-finals!
It is being said that both the matches of India vs England and Afghanistan vs South Africa can be washed away by rain. ICC will try its best to stop the match and only then the winning team will enter the final, but if the situation worsens then the team that is on top in its group will go to the final. In such a situation, Team India will reach the final directly without playing a match. The South African team from the other group will be the contender for the final. It has also been said that if the final does not happen then both the finalist teams will be declared joint winners.
