New roads will be planned in 1295 villages of Madhya Pradesh

To write a new story of development in the rural areas of Madhya Pradesh, the government has started an ambitious road construction scheme. Under this scheme, 1295 villages in 24 districts will be connected by 1284.29 km long roads. These roads will be constructed at a cost of Rs 1050 crore, the aim of which is to provide better connectivity to backward castes and tribal areas. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

Importance and objective of the scheme

The main objective of this scheme of Madhya Pradesh government is to connect those villages with roads which till now have remained untouched by development. This initiative is being run under the Prime Minister Tribal Justice Maha Abhiyan (PM Jan-Man Abhiyan). This scheme is especially for backward castes and tribal groups, so that better facilities and opportunities for economic development can reach the villages.

Scope of the scheme: Implementation in 24 districts

Under the scheme, priority has been given to settlements of three Special Backward Tribal Groups (PVTG) in 24 districts of the state. These villages will be connected to main roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana. Apart from this, small residential areas like Tola-Majra have also been included under the scope of this scheme.

Five stages of planning

The road construction work will be completed in five phases. Different targets have been set in each phase, so that all villages can be connected by road by 2025.

first stage

  • Target: Construction of 125 roads.
  • Length: 295 kilometers.
  • Cost: Rs 235 crore.
  • expiry time: By June 2025.

second phase

  • Target: Construction of 60 roads.
  • Length: 152 kilometers.
  • Cost: Rs 112.69 crore.

third step

  • Target: Construction of 86 roads.
  • Length: 216 kilometers.
  • Cost: Rs 162 crore.

fourth step

  • Target: Construction of 97 roads.
  • Length: 254 kilometers.
  • Cost: Rs 187.74 crore.

fifth step

  • Target: Construction of 627 roads.
  • Length: 1187 kilometers.
  • Cost: Rs 801 crore.

Road construction management and agency

This project will be implemented through Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority. This agency will take over the responsibility of all construction works under the supervision of Panchayat and Rural Development Department. The target is to complete the construction of roads with high quality within the stipulated time frame.
