News India Live, Digital Desk: The year 2025 is now moving towards farewell and many of us have already started preparations for the next year, i.e. 2026. Whenever the New Year calendar comes out, our eyes first fall on our festivals. For the Sikh community, festivals are not just about celebration, but also about reconnecting with their roots, the teachings of their Gurus and the spirit of service.

Be it the splendor of Gurudwaras, the aroma of langar or the sweetness of Kirtan, there will be many such occasions in 2026 when the entire family and company will celebrate together.

Will start with Lohri and Prakash Parv
As always, the year will start with great enthusiasm. The month of January brings severe cold, but the fire of Lohri and the songs of ‘Sundar Mundariye’ fill the hearts with warmth. Around this time we also celebrate the Prakash Parv of the tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This occasion will be very special in 2026, when the fragrance of city kirtan and service will spread in every street and locality.

Baisakhi and the spirit of Hola Mohalla
As the time of March-April approaches, the passion of Sikhi increases further. Just after Holi, the color of ‘Hola Mohalla’ in Anandpur Sahib is worth seeing. It is not just a festival, but a display of bravery and martial arts of the Sikhs. At the same time, in the middle of April comes the day of ‘Baisakhi’ – the foundation day of the Khalsa Panth. Enthusiasm is already visible among the Sangat for Baisakhi of 2026.

Tribute to memories and martyrdom
There are some days in the Sikh calendar when we bow our heads in reverence. Martyrdom days remind us of the great sacrifices due to which we live proudly today. In the year 2026 also, the months of June and December will be dedicated to those Gurus and Sahibzadas who sacrificed their lives for truth and religion.

Why is it important to know the calendar now?
Many people who live away from home or are abroad for their work plan their holidays and homecoming by looking at these dates. So that on these big occasions of the year, they can pay obeisance in the Gurudwara with their loved ones and enjoy the service of langar.

Sikh festivals connect us and teach us to rise above caste and join hands with humanity. So mark these dates on your calendar and resolve to spend the coming year 2026 with love, service and devotion.
