An important meeting was held in the country's capital New Delhi under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah with officials regarding the steps taken against Naxalites. He held a press conference and informed about the steps taken against Naxalism. The Union Home Minister informed about the steps taken against the Naxalites and said that more than 100 Naxalites have been killed in the last 9 months. Apart from this, other Naxalites have surrendered. More than 13 thousand people have left their arms and joined the mainstream.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting with Chief Ministers and senior officials of Naxal-affected states in New Delhi on Monday. During this, the security situation in Naxal affected areas was reviewed. This meeting has taken place at a time when a few days ago security forces had killed 31 Naxalites in the forests of Chhattisgarh. The states affected by the Naxalite threat include Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Telangana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Anti-Naxal operations and development initiatives in the affected areas were discussed in the meeting.

72 percent reduction in Naxalite violence

Naxalite violence has reduced by 72 percent due to the strategy of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Apart from this, the number of deaths in Naxalite attacks in the year 2023 has also decreased by 86 percent as compared to 2010. In such a situation, Naxalites are now fighting their last battle.

Committed to completely eliminate Naxalism by 2026

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and the guidance of the Home Minister, the Central Government is committed to completely eliminate the threat of Naxalism by March 2026. The Central Government is providing all possible assistance to the state governments affected by Naxalism to fight this problem.

The Union Home Minister's meeting with Chief Ministers of Naxal-hit states comes days after 31 Naxalites were killed in Chhattisgarh by security forces in one of the most successful operations against Naxalites in recent times. Union Ministers also participated in this meeting. Later, senior officials of the Centre, State and CAPFs also attended the meeting.
